Join US Horse Welfare and Rescue, a 501(C)3 CT based nonprofit, at our 1st "Getting Ahead of The Curve" equine rescuers' summit as a host of equine professionals, equine rescuers and equine advocates discuss the welfare and safety of America's horses. This group will be working to derive both short term and long term solutions to keeping our horses from abuse and slaughter during this 2 day summit. Join us as we examine the current issues that threaten America's horses.

Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus will perform Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah" Sunday, April 14, 3 p.m. at John Winthrop Middle School, 1 Winthrop Road, Deep River. Simon Holt of the Salt Marsh Opera will direct the chorus and professional soloists and orchestra. Audiences will enjoy Mendelssohn's lyricism and use of orchestral color in this Romantic oratorio that depicts the events in the life of the prophet Elijah. Chorus selections include the well-known anthems, "Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains" and "He, Watching Over Israel." A reception will follow the concert. Tickets are $30 purchased in advance, $35 at the door. They may be purchased from chorus members or on-line at www.CappellaCantorum.org.
